The Story About Psalm 139 / "Like You Do" - Alarice Thio

The Story About Psalm 139

A facade of emotional incapacity
A spirit that was weary
A soul that became parched and dry
That cannot be seen
By the human eye

But the heart has found its way home
Listening to the swoosh of the sea waves
The rustle of the tree leaves
The brush of the wind against the cheek
The heart is hushed and quietened
Familiar voice and memories
Of a beautiful psalm

He says, "My little girl
Do you know why you hold
Psalm 139 so dear to your heart?"
*Little girl shakes her head*
"Because it tells you how much I love you."

The heart, overwhelmed with love,
Realizes the truth of what follows:
"Jesus loves me, this I know
For the Bible tells me so."

VERSE 1
Walking ahead but blinded by
Distractions that pull me aside
I'm lost in a sea of empty faces
But would they hear my cry

PRE-CHORUS
'Cos my heart is pierced
And my soul is parched
And nothing here could ever play the part
Of loving me, endlessly, like You do

CHORUS
'Cos only You can saturate me
Envelope me, and hold me like You do
'Cos everything I know falls down to You

VERSE 2
If it takes a lifetime to know You
A lifetime I'm willing to spend
'Cos only You can disarm me
And search me and know who I really am

PRE-CHORUS
'Cos my heart is pierced
And my soul is parched
And nothing here could ever play the part
Of loving me, endlessly, like You do

CHORUS
'Cos only You can saturate me
Envelope me, and hold me like You do
'Cos everything I know falls down to You
