Evan Almighty

If you haven't already caught this movie, you HAVE TO!!!!

Was laughing for the first forty minutes of the movie but was crying my eyes out during the rest of it.
When Evan finally realized that it wasn't a trick, that he really had to build the ark, because of a bigger purpose, he decided to take a leap of faith, even though he was still doubting God. But as he really started building the ark, his faith in God grew bigger and bigger.

I realized something for myself: Faith is not when you have full confidence in what you are supposed to do, it is what grows and grows as you act upon what He has asked you to do. Faith is putting your entire weight on Him, like a rock (from Ps Khong).

When no one in that congress room believed that God asked Evan to build the ark, it just hit me. The tap in my eyes just broke loose. It reminded me of what Ps Khong said in the sermon for "Direction for the Future" (Blessing 9 in our 100K Blessing campaign): "Even when the whole world thinks you're crazy and you don't understand what you're doing", "even when you don't see it, you'll have the confidence that He is in control, through you and around you", "when all hell breaks loose, you might just be doing the right thing".

Noah is such a great man of faith. He just simply went forth to do what God had asked him to. I'm sure like any other normal person, he must have doubted God and his own ability to build such a huge ark and didn't even know for sure if a flood was really coming. But time upon time (in the movie), God sent things that were needed to build the ark, even before Evan realized he needed it. Like the giant lifting beam machine, with a note attached to it that says "Ask and you shall receive." (Matthew 7:7) Is God good or what?

God, I pray that when all hell breaks loose, I still hold onto You. Even when I can't see the ending, help me to hold on to You. Help me to walk on oceans deep. Hold my hand when I am about to fall.
